Limited English? No, Problem. New Scheme Was Introduced to Welcome Skilled Migrants to Work and Live Permanently in NT
There’s hope and a great opportunity for low skilled migrants who yearns to permanently reside in Northern Territory after years of working day and night on a designated occupation. The region has opened its doors to skilled migrants who have limited English and welcomes them to apply for 117 occupations which offers a permanent residency pathway.
This break through was designed by the Australian government to attract migrants to regional areas across the country which are experiencing labour shortages and need a population boost as well as help address regional skills gaps like in Warrnambool region in Victoria and the Northern Territory which Australians cannot fill.
The new scheme which took effect on 1 January 2019 is called Designation Area Migration Agreements (DAMA)s. The new scheme is an example of the Government using Australia’s migration program to benefit specific locations and better match the needs of the states, territories and regional areas. It works best and benefits the migrants as well as the government and businesses across Australia.
There are 117 occupations the NT Government and the Federal Government have shortlisted ranging from accountants to child care worker to chef to web designer, where employers can nominate skilled migrants if they are unable to find Australians to fill the positions.
