Tourist Visa also known as Visitor Visa lets you come to Australia as a tourist, and visit your family and friends or for purposes other than business or medical treatment. It consists of four streams.

Visitor visa (subclass 600) – Tourist stream (Apply inside Australia)

Overview:

You can only apply for this visa stream from within Australia and must be in the country when immigration makes a decision. Since this is a temporary visa, you can only stay within the dates specified on your visa grant letter. The immigration determine the length of your visa on a case by case basis. These are the factors they may or may not consider when determining the length of time you can stay in Australia:

  • The amount of time you want to stay in Australia.
  • The reason why you want to stay in Australia in that period of time.

Your visa condition may be granted on one entry or multiple entries. If immigration proceed to grant you a visa with a multiple entry condition, you can leave and re-enter Australia while this visa is still valid. However, under this visa’s conditions, you cannot stay in Australia for a total of more than 12 months in an 18-month period. Unless, you’re currently hold a Visitor visa, a Working Holiday visa, a Work and Holiday visa or a bridging visa, then that would mean you stay in Australia for more than 12 consecutive months, considering that you can show exceptional circumstances.

  • Show if it’s in the best interest of the child under 18

Visitor visa (subclass 600) – Tourist stream (Apply outside Australia)

Overview:

You must be outside Australia when you apply for this visa and when immigration gives a decision on your application. The length of time you can stay in Australia and the factors they may or may not consider when determining the length of time you can stay in Australia is the same as the onshore tourist visa application. It is determined on a case by case basis.

Your visa condition may be granted on one entry or multiple entries. If immigration proceed to grant you a visa with a multiple entry condition, you can leave and re-enter Australia while this visa is still valid. However, under this visa’s conditions, you cannot stay in Australia for a total of more than 12 months in an 18-month period. Unless, you’re currently hold a Visitor visa, a Working Holiday visa, a Work and Holiday visa or a bridging visa, then that would mean you stay in Australia for more than 12 consecutive months, considering that you can show exceptional circumstances.

Visitor visa (subclass 600) – Sponsored family stream

Overview:

This is a temporary visa that lets you visit family or friends in Australia, go on a cruise adventure, enjoy a holiday trip and even study or train for up to 3 months. You must be outside Australia when you apply for this visa and when immigration gives a decide on your application.Immigration might grant it for up to 12 months which is based on a case by case basis and the factors they may or may not consider when determining the length of time you can stay in Australia same as the tourist stream.

Your visa condition may be granted on one entry or multiple entries. If immigration proceed to grant you a visa with a multiple entry condition, you can leave and re-enter Australia while this visa is still valid. However, under this visa’s conditions, you cannot stay in Australia for a total of more than 12 months in an 18-month period.

Visitor visa (subclass 600) – Business visitor stream

Overview:

This is a temporary visa that lets you make general business or employment enquiries in Australia, investigate, negotiate, enter into or review a business contract, conduct activities as part of an official government visit, take part in a conference, trade fair or seminar in Australia. However, it’s restricted for organisers to pay any means in Australia.

You must be outside Australia when you apply for this visa and when immigration gives a decision on your visa application.Immigration might grant it for up to 12 months which is based on a case by case basis and the factors they may or may not consider when determining the length of time you can stay in Australia same as the tourist stream.

Your visa condition may be granted on one entry or multiple entries. If immigration proceed to grant you a visa with a multiple entry condition, you can leave and re-enter Australia while this visa is still valid. However, under this visa’s conditions, you cannot stay in Australia for a total of more than 12 months in an 18-month period.
